R & R King Logging Inc., a family-owned business in Florence, is a recipient of the 2008 Excellence in Family Business Award.

The award, that was presented by Oregon State University’s Austin Family Business Program at a ceremony on Nov. 20, at the Oregon Zoo in Portland, recognizes the achievements of family businesses in innovation, entrepreneurship, commitment and community involvement. Family businesses are nominated for the award by employees, advisers and owners.

Six Oregon companies and three individuals received the 2008 Excellence in Family Business Award.

“The judges’ selection of our annual winners and finalists in the Austin Family Business Program’s Excellence in Family Business Award is not only a well-deserved honor for the winning family businesses, but an important educational event, as these businesses represent key role models for all fledgling, challenged and hard-working family businesses,” said Robin Klemm, program director.
