Police find no fault in bus-pickup collision
Police have found no one was at fault in the mid-November school bus accident that sent a pickup truck crashing into the downtown fire hall in Coos Bay.
Police Capt. Gary McCullough said officers couldn’t determine who was to blame after listening to eyewitness reports. Witnesses didn’t agree about which vehicle ran a red light at the intersection of Fourth Street and Anderson Avenue.
“There were contradicting stories on each side,” McCullough said.
McCullough did rule out the accident being caused by a malfunctioning traffic signal as a few witnesses had contended.
